Pekingese

Pekingese dogs can be stubborn and are not the easiest to train. You will need to have patience and consistency in order to successfully train them. They will be obedient eventually, but it will be on their own time. They have an independent mind of their own. Many Pekingese are willful, obstinate, and dominant. They want to be the boss! A Pekingese will make you prove that you are able make them do things. You must show them, through absolute consistency, that you mean what you say in training pekingese.

Toy breeds, such as the pekingese, are almost always difficult to house train. If you hope to house train a toy breed, consistent crate training is mandatory. Pekingese should not be loose in the house for many months, until their small internal organs become strong enough for reliable bladder control. Pekingese puppies have poor bowel and bladder control. You want to be sure to have somewhere for them to use the restroom. Some owners use newspaper, a litter box, the backyard or even puppy pee pads. Whatever you choose, you want to have it easily accessible for house training pekingese dogs.

It is common for puppies to have accidents and you want to keep your pekingese from playing in any area that would be hard to clean. It is easy for them to sneak behind a chair or under a small table and it takes just a few seconds for the deed to be done. The results can be hard to see or find. When you do not see the accident, you are not able to correct the behavior. So the bad habit becomes established and training pekingese becomes frustrating. If you do not get to your Pekingese in time, simply pick him up and move him to the correct spot. Clean up that area and be sure to get the smell out so he does not try to go there again. Rewarding your Pekingese after he does the deed in the correct spot is an easy way to show him he is doing right and will help make training pekingese easier. If your pekingese is given rules and limits on behavior, he will be the wonderful little dog you hoped for.
